As I started reading Othello and got deeper into the story I inmediately thought about soap operas, because I compared Iago to the villain who makes people think that he's an ally when in reality he's just waiting for a big or special event to stab people in the back. I just kept thinking about that and how many people conspire against the love of the main characters, but even thought everything is done, nothing seems to falter that love. Another thing that really bothered me was the fact that Iago was so corrupted by power, what does he gain from conspiring against Othello and Desdemona, maybe he can separate them, but what will that give him, it's true that he'll feel happy that Othello is miserable, but it won't give him the position he wants in Othello's army, he'll still be empty handed. I think that this play is a rough draft of what soap operas have become, even if it is taking place in another time.
